DON’T follow these steps to deactivate your Facebook Timeline

A new generation of Facebook Scams has emerged just in time for the launch of Timeline – Facebook’s new profile layout. And while these changes have more than one user celebrating Facebook’s evolution, there are a large number of defectors who are begging Facebook to let them revert back to their old profiles.

Mashable recently reported an increase in Facebook scams targeting these users offering them to turn off Timeline. In exchange, users are asked to turn in personal info, download nasty files, or spam friends and family with bogus links. Some of those applications and pages are even going as far as using Mark Zuckerberg’s image to attract their prey.

If your employees access Facebook during work hours or even lunch time, you should be enforcing a social media policy to protect your systems from falling prey to malware and spam. Now, this does not mean you should block you company’s access to Social Media sites (it’s got negative consequences anyway), instead, proper education and monitoring are key to protect your company from online risks coming from outside and inside the organization.

Where do you stand?

Do you love or hate Facebook’s new timeline? Have you seen or clicked any of these links?
